What is the Interreg subsidy?
Are you an innovative entrepreneur at European level working together on a sustainable project? Then Interreg might be interesting for you. No fewer than 79 programs are intended to reduce the economic disparities between regions and Member States. For example in the fields of innovation, research, sustainable energy, climate and transport.
I want to apply for Interreg subsidy subsidie
Do you have a good, innovative and technically feasible project idea, aimed at low-carbon technologies and do you work together with (Flemish) companies? Please contact us directly to discuss your grant application.
CrossRoads2 Sustainable Energy and Interreg
CrossRoads2 Sustainable Energy is the successor to the successful CrossRoads (2010-2014) and CrossRoads2 (2016-2020) projects. This CrossRoads project subsidizes innovative partnerships with at least one SME from the South of the Netherlands (Zeeland, Limburg, North Brabant) and at least one SME from Flanders. Up to and including 2022, more than €6.8 million will be invested in the CrossRoads2 Sustainable Energy programme.
Technology Readiness Level (TRL 5 to 8)
Projects with Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 (prototype development) up to and including 8 (demonstration) can qualify for a subsidy within this project. Compared to the previous CrossRoads projects, this project has a specific focus on the themes of energy and climate. An important requisite of the project is that the innovation projects have an objective aimed at sustainable energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy or CO2 reduction and capture. The innovation project should achieve on average a reduction potential of 200 tons of CO2 annually, from the outset of its market introduction.
Budget Crossroads subsidy amount
A maximum of € 150,000 in subsidy will be provided per project at a maximum percentage of 50%.
STEPS program
Many batteries, accumulators or other forms of energy storage are imported from Asia and the US. These solutions are often not tailor-made for a specific question. Innovative energy storage products from North Western European countries (NWE) do offer the potential to deliver the desired customization, but often get stuck in development, so they do not make it to market introduction. Storage of Energy & Power Systems (STEPS) wants to change that.
By introducing a user-oriented, demand-driven approach, the program aims to bring products closer to the market through field labs. In these test environments, the generation and distribution of electricity collaborate with developers of energy storage products. This allows parties to further develop their products for the specific electricity market in the country concerned and for NWE. The STEPS program will support 40 companies with a voucher program offering €12,500 in free support from leading universities. In addition, 20 of these companies will each receive €50,000 in expert support to test and demonstrate their technology at a regional end-user (testbed) in Northwest Europe.
Objectives STEPS
In concrete terms, the program for the period 2021-2023 has the following objectives:
- educating and training more than 200 local electricity storage SMEs from NWE, including Gelderland and Overijssel, on how to approach foreign markets in NWE;
- rolling out a voucher program to connect end-users of energy storage solutions with at least 20 providers, to further develop their product to ensure its ready for market introduction;
- train more than 50 future energy storage end users with a specially developed tool that allows them to make an appropriate choice from the multitude of energy storage solutions;
- create a portfolio of more than 250 energy storage providers from NWE, making their own companies more visible and their products more transparent.
Apply for a STEPS subsidy
In total, STEPS provides an impulse of € 1.5 million for innovative SMEs in NWE.
