- Installations for the production of sustainable energy via solar panels and wind turbines
By investing in sustainable energy, the ISDE scheme contributes to achieving the goals of the Energy Agreement.
Who is the ISDE subsidy for?
The parties eligible for the subsidy are private individuals, independent entrepreneurs, housing associations, companies, municipalities, provinces and other public bodies. Foreign private individuals with a home in the Netherlands and business parties from abroad who install a device in the Netherlands are also eligible for subsidy. Subsidies for investments in installations for the production of sustainable energy via solar panels cannot be applied for by natural persons, such as owner-occupiers and natural persons acting as landlords. If you are an entrepreneur, we would be happy to discuss the possibilities.
How much is the subsidy worth?
The ISDE is an investment subsidy with a one-off payment. The amount of subsidy for which you are eligible depends on the brand, type and thermal capacity of the device and is generally about 20% of the investment amount. In 2023 the budget is divided as follows:
- €350 million for investments in a space heater, water heater or solar boiler, energy-saving insulation measures or connection to a heat network;
- €30 million for installations for the production of sustainable energy via solar panels and wind turbines.
What are the conditions?
The following conditions apply to entrepreneurs:
- You must submit an application before you have entered into a purchase agreement/ order confirmation
- Subsidies are only possible for newly purchased appliances and the appliance must be installed in the Netherlands by an expert installer.
- The device must be installed within one year of being made available. Postponement is possible.
Example of ISDE in practice: subsidy heat pump
Company X has decided to invest in sustainable energy, in order to realize energy label A for their existing company building. The company receives an ISDE subsidy for the heat pump purchased.
Difference between ISDE and SDE++
Unlike the ISDE, the SDE++ is an operating subsidy. This means that producers receive a subsidy per ton CO2 reduction and not for the purchase of the production installation. SDE++ often involves large-scale investments in solar energy, biomass, wind energy, water and geothermal energy.
Applying for an ISDE subsidy in 2023?
The ISDE is a multi-year scheme that runs until 2030. Applications can be made from 3 January to 31 December 2023.
